AESTHETIC SMILE
AESTHETIC SMILE
Nowadays, with the increasing understanding of the concept of aesthetics, people undergo many aesthetic procedures in order to achieve more beautiful ones. Sometimes it is a facial surgery and sometimes it is a body surgery. However, the issue that many people are not aware of and that I want to touch upon is what is the role and effect of having beautiful teeth and a smile in order to become more beautiful.
What are Lamina Veneers?
Laminate veneers are thin leaf porcelains that are applied to the front surface of the teeth with minimal or sometimes no abrasion. Thanks to these thin leaf porcelains, irregularities in the color, shape and anomalies of the teeth are eliminated aesthetically. The whiteness achieved with laminate veneers is permanent; Factors that cause discoloration on natural teeth, such as smoking, tea and coffee, do not have a discoloring effect on laminate veneers.
The thickness of these thin leaf porcelains varies between 0.2 mm and 0.7 mm depending on the case. They are the thinnest and most aesthetic applications compared to other coating methods used in dentistry. Unlike other coating bonding methods, bonding systems are done chemically by laser.
As part of this process, after taking full face and intraoral photographs of our patients who applied to our clinic in the first session, and if necessary, minimal abrasion on the front surfaces of the teeth where the laminates will be placed and measurements taken, we try to obtain a smile suitable for our patient's face by taking the anatomical points in the facial photographs we have obtained as reference. Of course, here we can make changes in line with our patients' wishes. Then, at the end of the 1-week period, we show the teeth in the mouth to the patient who comes for the second session, get his approval, and proceed with the bonding process. During this process, if our patient wishes, we can make corrections on the teeth.
After the laminate veneers are bonded, I always give information to each of my patients about how to properly care for their mouth. Because no matter what procedure is performed in dentistry, the lifespan of the work performed also depends on the care provided after the procedure. To put it briefly, I can say that 50% is your doctor's hand sensitivity and 50% is patient oral care. No extra oral care procedures are applied in the care of laminate veneers. Brushing with a circular massage twice a day (on all surfaces of the teeth for at least 2 minutes) and flossing in the evening before going to bed will be sufficient.
In addition, many people today are afraid of the thought of irreversible damage from cutting and wearing their teeth. For such people, Non-Prep laminates are made on their own teeth without any cutting or abrasion. In order to make non-prep laminates, the tooth structure and arch form must be indicated.
